The people of Delhi will continue to get electricity subsidy. On Friday, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena approved the power subsidy file. Now more than 46 lakh families of Delhi will continue to get electricity subsidy. Earlier, there was a round of allegations and counter-allegations between Minister Atishi and the Lieutenant Governor in the Delhi government regarding the approval of the file.

Atishi had accused of stopping the file
Before the approval of the file, Atishi had said that the budget for giving electricity subsidy for the coming year has been passed by the assembly, but the file of this decision of the cabinet has been stopped by the Lieutenant Governor. He alleged that I had sought 5 minutes from the LG to discuss the matter, but the Lt Governor did not give time.

On this, on behalf of the Lieutenant Governor’s office, it was told that Atishi is misleading the people by giving wrong statements. The LG said that the government has not audited Rs 13,549 crore given to private power companies in the last six years. I am in support of this electricity subsidy decision. But the subsidy given to the power companies should be audited. If theft is happening somewhere, it should be stopped.

LG said – what is the need for the government to do gimmicks
LG said that when the decision on power subsidy was kept pending till April 4? While the deadline was April 15? VK Saxena said why was this file sent to me only on April 11? Now what is the need of gimmick on behalf of the government by writing a letter on 13th April and holding a press conference today.

LG has also asked Delhi CM Kejriwal questions on non-implementation of Section 108 of the Electricity Act 2003. Explain that under this, it is necessary to audit the electricity companies by the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission. The Lt Governor expressed surprise that the government’s appeal challenging the High Court order quashing the CAG audit of power companies was pending in the Supreme Court for 7 years. He has asked the government to file an appeal in the court for early hearing of the matter.

Let us tell you that there is a dispute between the government and the governor regarding electricity subsidy for many months. The government wants to continue subsidizing free electricity and water as before. At the same time, LG suggests that the subsidy be sent directly to the people’s account. Recently, the Chief Secretary of Delhi told through a report that due to non-compliance of the instructions of DERC, the government is facing a loss of 300 crores.
