  • Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit vs Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. CM taunts the Governor, the decisions related to Punjab are taken by the elected representatives, not the elected people

Jalandhar31 minutes ago

The war that started between Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the issue of sending government teachers to Singapore for training does not seem to end. Without naming the governor in Chandigarh on Tuesday, the CM said tauntingly that the decisions of Punjab will be taken by the elected people, not the selected ones.

Meanwhile, a reply to the letter written by him on the same issue was also sent to the Governor on behalf of the Chief Minister. In this letter, Bhagwant Mann wrote – I want to make it clear that I and my government are answerable to 3 crore Punjabis. You have asked me on what basis the teachers have been selected for training in Singapore? The people of Punjab want to ask, on what basis are the governors elected in different states by the central government without any clear qualification in the Indian constitution. The information of Punjabis should be increased by telling this.

Questions were asked by writing a letter to the Punjab government

In fact, on Monday itself, Punjab Governor BL Purohit wrote a letter to Bhagwant Mann Sarkar. In this, along with the criteria for selecting the teachers sent abroad on training, details of the expenses incurred on their commuting, living and eating abroad were sought. In case of non-receipt of this detail within 15 days, the matter of taking necessary action after taking legal opinion was also written in the Governor’s letter.

After the Governor’s letter was released in the media, CM Bhagwant Mann addressed him and tweeted, ‘I am answerable to 3 crore Punjabis and not to the Governor. Consider this as my answer.

Do not hang unnecessarily in decisions

The next day of this controversy, on Tuesday afternoon, CM Bhagwant Mann, who came to inaugurate a two-day camp set up to give training to the new MLAs of Punjab related to the proceedings of the assembly, questioned the way of functioning of Governor BL Purohit without naming him. He said, ‘Selected people should not put their feet unnecessarily in the decisions taken by the elected people. The selected people are under the influence of someone and are victims of misunderstanding. He should not give threats of law. Law is same for all and we also know the law.

Bhagwant Mann said that there is nothing to worry about. The misguided people will also soon come on the path. Will get them on the way.

coup in democracy it doesn’t take long
Bhagwant Mann also raised questions on the attitude of the BJP and the central government. He said, ‘People are supreme in a democracy. People judge everything. Ego is not good. Those people in Punjab who used to say that they will sit on the benches of the Vidhansabha and those who had closed their doors for the general public, the public showed them the reality in the elections.

Bhagwant Mann said that despite the Aam Aadmi Party getting majority in the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) elections, it is not being allowed to become its mayor. The party has to go to court for this. This is not good for democracy. It doesn’t take long for a coup to happen in a democracy.

AAP bid – Governor has no right to interfere in the work
Earlier, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also questioned the attitude of the Punjab Governor. Party spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang said that both Punjab Governor BL Purohit and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann are answerable to the Constitution of this country. Neither of the two is accountable to any particular person.

Kang said that the letter written by Punjab Governor BL Purohit to the state government on February 13 was against the basic spirit and traditions of Indian democracy. The governor has no right to interfere in the routine functioning of the government elected by the people of any state. Citing the decision of the Supreme Court in a case related to Punjab itself, the AAP spokesperson said that the BJP and the governor should not behave like this.

appointment of officers is the prerogative of the government
AAP spokesperson Kang said that earlier in the history of Punjab, no governor had behaved like this. The governor should refrain from doing politics by staying behind the scenes. Where to appoint any officer in the state, it is the prerogative of the government.

Kang said that the governor cannot run a parallel government in the state. He also questioned the release of the letter written by the Governor to Bhagwant Mann Sarkar in the media.
