According to Porbandar Deputy Superintendent of Police Surjeet Mehedu, the two-month-old girl of the family living in Bakhrla village had cough and phlegm about a week ago. Initially the parents tried home remedies, but did not get any relief. After this the parents took him to an exorcist Devrajbhai Katara. Katara hit the girl’s chest and abdomen with a hot iron rod.

At the same time, this thing was not told to the girl’s father. When he returned home from work in the evening, he saw the girl in agony. After this they took him to Bhavsinghji General Hospital in Porbandar. When the doctors examined, it was found that the girl was having difficulty in breathing. After this he was put on oxygen support in the ICU. At present the condition of the girl child is improving.

Along with the accused, a case was registered against the mother as well.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Surjit Mehedu said that the accused Dr. Devrajbhai Katara, accused in the incident, has been arrested on Sunday. Also, an FIR has been registered against him and the child’s mother under Indian Penal Code section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by any instrument) and other provisions. This FIR has been registered on the basis of the complaint of the girl’s father.
