Siddaramaiah will be the Chief Minister of Karnataka for 5 years. There is no formula like agreement of power for two-and-a-half years in the state. Karnataka cabinet minister and Congress MLA MB Patil said that if there was such a proposal, the party high command and general secretary KC Venugopal would definitely inform the state unit about it.

The results of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly elections came on 13 May. Congress won 135 out of 224 seats, BJP 66 and JDS 19 seats. After the results came, the churning continued for five days in the Congress regarding the post of CM. There was a claim between Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar. The high command chose Siddaramaiah. Sonia Gandhi convinced DK for Deputy CM.

On May 17, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar met Rahul Gandhi. After meeting Kharge and Rahul, Shivkumar finally agreed to the post of Deputy CM on the advice of Sonia Gandhi.

BJP said – government will fall in a year
BJP Tamil Nadu unit president Annamalai claimed on 21 May that the Karnataka government would fall within a year. He said- ‘I see the Karnataka government collapsing like a pack of cards a year from now. If DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah don’t fight till 2024, both should be given the Nobel Peace Prize, because the very structure of the government is flawed. Both the leaders will remain CM for 2.5 years, as both have 10-10 leaders in the party. What kind of structure is this?

He said- They talk about opposition unity. When there is no unity in the Congress itself, how will the opposition be united? Even opposition leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, KCR and Mamata Banerjee were not present at the swearing-in ceremony.

After forming the government on May 20, Rahul Gandhi came on stage and reiterated his promise to fulfill the 5 promises of the Congress in the first cabinet. In the next two hours it was also stamped.
