Indian Army’s Cheetah helicopter crashed in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday. According to sources, the helicopter has crashed in Mandla Hills area. It was carrying officers of the rank of lieutenant colonel and major. A search operation is underway. The Army said that the chopper had taken off from Bomdial. The helicopter lost contact with the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at 9:15 am. Since then no information about the helicopter has been received.
Arunachal Pradesh Police said- At around 12.30 pm, the villagers of Bangjalep, Dirang police station told that a crashed helicopter has been found. Search and rescue teams of Army, SSB and Police have left for the spot. No photos have surfaced yet, as there is no signal in the area. Today the weather is very foggy and the visibility is 5 meters.
According to news agency ANI, PRO of Defense Guwahati, Lt. Col. Mahendra Rawat said that the army was conducting an operation sortie near Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh. During this, the Army Aviation Cheetah helicopter lost contact with the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at 9:15 am.

Five died in the accident. Rudra is an attack helicopter of the army. It is built by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Army. It is the Weapon System Integrated (WSI) Mk-IV version of the Dhruv light helicopter.
