New Delhi: In a surprising revelation, leading Indian food delivery app, Zomato has revealed that 72% of their cash on delivery orders have been paid in ₹2,000 notes since Friday. The revelation comes at an important time as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently announced its decision to withdraw the ₹2,000 denomination from circulation.
After the RBI’s announcement, people are desperate to get rid of their Rs 2,000 denomination notes at the earliest. Long queues have been seen at petrol pumps across India, as people want to rid themselves of these high-value notes. Several posts claim that petrol pumps have displayed notices prohibiting or discouraging customers from using ₹2,000 notes as a form of payment.

Zomato criticized after the announcement
Children: Exchange ₹ 2000 note in the bank
Adults: Order cash on delivery and give ₹2000 note
Legends: There was never a ₹2000 note — zomato (@zomato) May 19, 2023
In a tweet, Zomato poked fun at RBI’s announcement regarding the withdrawal of ₹2,000 notes from circulation. The tweet states that while children exchanged ₹2,000 notes at the bank, adults opted for cash on delivery and paid with ₹2,000 notes. It ended humorously saying that the legends never even had ₹2,000 notes.
