Zelensky sacks Ukraine’s envoy to India, other foreign envoys

KyivUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday sacked Kyiv’s ambassador to India and several other foreign envoys. He announced the dismissal of Ukraine’s ambassadors to Germany, the Czech Republic, Norway, India, Bangladesh, the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka, The Kyiv Independent reported.

Zelensky has urged his diplomats to extend international support and support military aid fierce war in ukraine, Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine in the last week of February this year, resulting in a massive humanitarian situation. The United Nations estimates that 12 million people inside Ukraine will need relief and protection, while many other Ukrainian refugees may need protection and assistance in neighboring countries in the coming months.

On 1 March, the United Nations and humanitarian partners launched a coordinated flash appeal for a combined USD 1.7 billion to provide humanitarian aid to people in Ukraine and refugees in neighboring countries.

Within Ukraine, the plan requires USD 1.1 billion to meet the growing humanitarian needs of more than six million people affected and displaced by military operations over the next three months, according to UN News. Outside the country, the United Nations has requested USD 551 million to help Ukrainians who have fled across borders, mainly in Poland, Hungary, Romania and Moldova.
