Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday sacked the country’s ambassador to India as well as several other top foreign envoys, news agency Reuters quoted the president’s website as saying. The move came without any explanation. There is no clarity on whether the envoys will be assigned other tasks.

Ukraine currently maintains dubious ties with Germany – a country that has been heavily dependent on Russia’s oil. The reasons for the sacking of the Ambassador to India are not yet clear. India had earlier not participated in the UN votes condemning the Russian invasion.

Earlier, deadly Russian shelling was reported in the east and south of Ukraine. Serhi Haidai, governor of Luhansk’s eastern region, said Russia launched more than 20 artillery, mortar and rocket attacks in the province overnight and that its forces were pushing towards the border with the Donetsk region.

“We are trying to keep Russia’s armed formations on the entire front line,” Haidai wrote on Telegram.

Last week, Russia captured the last major stronghold of the Ukrainian resistance in Luhansk, the city of Lisichansk. Analysts predict that it will take some time for Moscow’s troops to regroup and regroup.

But “so far, there has been no operational break declared by the enemy. He is still attacking and shelling our land as before. In a later post, he claimed that the Russian bombing of Luhansk was suspended because Ukrainian forces destroyed ammunition depots and barracks used by the Russians.
