San Francisco: Tech giant Google has announced that it has restructured the terms of the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) to include new modules such as ‘Shorts Monetization Module’, which will allow creators to monetise video-sharing on Shorts from February 1. The tech giant said in a support page that the new modules offer creators more flexibility in how they monetize their content.

“After signing the Base Terms, which are the basic contract terms for all creators looking to monetize on the platform, creators can pick and choose from contract modules to unlock earning opportunities.”

The new modules include ‘Watch Pages Monetization Module’, ‘Shorts Monetization Module’ and ‘Commerce Product Addendum’.

Users need to accept the View Page Monetization Module to earn advertising and YouTube Premium revenue on long-form or live-streaming videos viewed on the View Page.

“The Shorts monetization module allows your channel to share revenue from ads seen between videos in the Shorts feed,” the company said.

If users have already accepted the ‘Commercial Product Addendum’, which unlocks a range of fan funding features, they will not need to accept its terms again.

All users are required to review and understand the new YPP Terms as “acceptance of the Base Terms is required to join or remain in YPP.”

“All monetization partners will have until July 10, 2023 to review and accept the new terms in order to remain in the YouTube Partner Program and continue monetizing YouTube,” Google said.

If users do not accept the Base Terms by that date, their channel will be removed from YPP and their monetization agreement will be terminated.
