You’re Here to Play Football, Not Film It: Bruno Fernandes Out at Manchester United’s Fred & Alex Tells

Footage of Manchester United footballer Bruno Fernandes yelling at his teammates Fred and Alex Telles for walking away from cameras and onto the training pitch has gone viral.

The midfielder’s foul was recorded by two teammates shooting at the club’s Carrington training camp. Fernandes asked the two to stop filming and urged them to focus on football.

The footage was captured while Tels was filming ‘A Day in the Life’ – a video of professional football players for the Brazilian football marketing agency O Clube Football. Both Telles and Fred were walking in the parking lot of the training ground, causing Fernandes to shout at them in Portuguese. “You’re here to play football, not film it,” he said.

Bruno Fernandes inspires himself and those around him to set high standards. Ever since the video surfaced, many on social media have interpreted it as another sign of the midfielder’s leadership abilities.

He has worn the captain’s armband and has stepped down as United’s leader on several occasions. The role may take place on a more permanent basis in the future, with doubts over Harry Maguire’s position as club captain.

The 27-year-old is primarily known for his graceful footwork and technical ability, but his aggression and passion for the game has led to fierce struggles in the past. Coaches clearly love Fernandes’ hot-tempered nature, and he’s no stranger to atrocities directed at teammates. Before leaving for Manchester, Fernandes recorded a fiery voice message, destroying his teammates’ performance at Sporting CP in Porugal.

Bruno Fernandes had a tough 2021–22 season, playing with a lot of weak teammates, his productivity plummeting to 10 goals and 13 assists in 46 appearances. However, he has shined for the Red Devils since joining Sporting, finding the net on 28 occasions and setting up another 19 for teammates during the 2020-21 season.
