Young Boy Falls Into 60-Feet Borewell In Madhya Pradesh, Rescue Operations Underway

VidishaA 7-year-old boy fell into a borewell in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha district on Tuesday and an operation is on to rescue the child. An officer gave this information. Officials told that the borewell is 60 feet deep and the boy is trapped at a depth of 43 feet. He said that a parallel pit is being dug with the help of JCB machines (earth movers) to retrieve the child.

Lokesh Ahirwar was playing when he slipped and fell into a narrow pit at Kherkhedi Pathar village under Lateri tehsil of the district around 11 am, the official said. Lateri Sub-Divisional Magistrate Harshal Chowdhary said that after being alerted by the villagers, a rescue team reached the spot and launched an operation to rescue the child.


Vidisha Collector Umashankar Bhargava said an oxygen pipe has been lowered into the borewell and rescuers are monitoring the trapped boy through a night vision device.

The official said personnel of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have also been pressed into service to rescue the boy.
He said a camera was lowered into the borewell to better monitor the condition of the boy.

Senior officials including Divisional Commissioner Malsingh Bhaidiya and Inspector General (IG) Irshad Wali also reached the spot around 7 pm to supervise the rescue operation.
