‘You probably couldn’t have asked for anything more’: Australia’s Alyssa Healy after World Cup win

Wicket-keeper batsman Alyssa Healy played one of the best innings of her career, guiding the Australian women’s time with a win over England in the summit clash in their record-extending seventh ODI World Cup. He further showed appreciation towards his team for putting up a stellar performance throughout the tournament.

“Proud of the batting unit. We’ve done some amazing things throughout this tournament, so it was impressive to be able to do it one more time on the biggest stage.”

Australia remained unbeaten throughout the tournament as they put in some impressive match-by-match performances to clinch the title.

Healy finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer in the final with a record 170 runs, which also helped him clinch the player of the match and tournament award.

Talking about his innings against England, Healy said that he enjoyed batting with Rachel Haynes and things are going well for the team.

“I never in my wildest dreams thought I would do something like this, so that’s great. We knew the first 10 overs were going to be the most challenging part of the game and we got two world class bowlers swinging the ball. All we knew was that we had to keep our nerves. I enjoy batting with Rachu [Rachael Haynes] And that’s what we set out to do and we’ve checked that box,” he added.

I know the batsmen will come for me and me She likes challenge. It’s one big family in the Australian camp. From the moment I moved in, I was greeted with open arms and credit goes to the girls, a culture that has been built over the years. She (Healy) made a great innings. I was eating a little popcorn on the side and enjoying all the shows he’s putting on. It all comes from our top-order and how well they’ve been through the tournament,” King said.
