Yogini Ekadashi: Know about the date, time and importance of Yogini Ekadashi

Every month has two Ekadashi tithi and each of these Ekadashi is known by different names. Ekadashi Tithi falling on Krishna Paksha of Ashadha month is called Yogini Ekadashi Tithi. This year Yogini Ekadashi fast will be celebrated on 5th July. On this Ekadashi, devotees observe fast by worshiping Lord Vishnu. According to Hindu beliefs, Lord Krishna had said that fasting on Yogini Ekadashi would give the result equal to feeding 88,000 Brahmins.

Yogini Ekadashi date and timing

According to the Panchang, the Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Ashadh month will start from 07:55 pm on July 04 and will end on July 5 at 10:30 pm. Yogini Ekadashi Tithi will remain full day on 05 July along with Uday Tithi. Therefore Yogini Ekadashi fast will be valid only on 5th July. According to Hindu mythology, one who observes fast on this day should do Parana from 05:29. From morning till 08:16 on the next day of fasting. According to the rules, the fast should be broken before the end of Dwadashi Tithi.

Yogini Ekadashi Significance

It is believed that observing Ekadashi fast on this holy day liberates one from all kinds of sins and fulfills all his/her wishes. Some people also believe that fasting on Ekadashi leads to salvation after death.

Yogini Ekadashi puja vidhi

The devotees should wake up early in the morning and light a lamp in the temple of the house after taking a bath. The next step is to anoint Lord Vishnu with the holy water of the Ganges. Offer flowers and tulsi dal to Lord Vishnu and worship. Only sattvik prasad is given to the Lord. Make sure to include Tulsi in the Bhog made for Lord Vishnu. It is believed that without Tulsi, God does not take food. Maa Lakshmi is also worshiped on this holy day. Meditating before God can do wonders for you.
