Yeh Hai Mohabbatein fame TV actor Lokendra Singh Rajawat’s leg amputated due to high diabetes

Popular TV shows- Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and Jodha Akbar fame actor Lokendra Singh Rajawat has lost his leg due to high diabetes and lack of work and money. A report in ‘Etimes’ said that the 50-year-old actor’s leg was amputated last week due to high stress levels, which raised his blood sugar beyond dangerous limits.

His surgery, which lasted for 5 hours, was done at Bhaktivedanta Hospital, Mira Road, Mumbai.

He shared that he was doing well before the COVID-19 pandemic, but faced financial crunch at home when the shooting was completed last year. Speaking with ETimes, Lokendra Singh narrated his ordeal and shared that it all started when he developed a corn on his right leg and ignored it. The actor further shared how the infection spread to his bone marrow. He said, “It all started when I developed a corn on my right leg and I ignored it. It turned into an infection that spread to the bone marrow and, in no time, spread throughout my body. I Developed gangrene. The only way to protect myself was to amputate the leg up to the knee.”

He further added, “We actors often do not have a fixed time while shooting and our lunch hours and erratic working hours adversely affect our health. Add to this the stress. All this leads to diabetes. Not if you’re fond of sweets.”

Lokendra Singh also mentioned that he got financial support through CINTAA and shared that the actor has been calling to know about his health. He revealed that many actors inspired him during this difficult time.

The actor is now planning to go for a prosthetic leg, but says “the wound should heal first”.

Lokendra has been a part of many TV shows like CID, Crime Patrol and others. He also acted in films like Jagga Jasoos and Malaal.

Lokendra is married and father of two children.
