Yami Gautam talks about dealing with keratosis pilaris skin condition

Bollywood actress Yami Gautam on Monday revealed that she has been battling keratosis pilaris, a type of incurable skin condition, for “many years”. The “Ghost Cops” actor decided to open up about the condition to overcome her “fears and insecurities,” she wrote in a note on Instagram. Sharing pictures from her latest photoshoot, Gautham wrote that the condition leads to dry and rough patches on the skin with tiny bumps. The 32-year-old actress said that when the photos were about to go for post-production work to hide her skin condition, she decided to scrap the process.

“I thought, ‘Hey Yami, why don’t you just accept this fact and accept it well enough to be okay with it. Just let it be’ (Yeah, I talk out loud to myself). Those For people who haven’t heard about it, it’s a skin condition in which you get tiny pimples on your skin. I promise they’re not as bad as your brain and your neighbor aunt tells it. I developed this skin condition during my teen years, and there is still no cure for it,” she wrote.

Gautam said he no longer felt the need to hide his condition and found it liberating to share it with his followers on social media.

“I dealt with it for many years and today finally, I decided to let go of all my fears and insecurities and found the courage to love and accept my ‘flaws’ with all my heart. I also got the courage to share my truth. Got you. Phew! I don’t feel like airbrushing my folliculitis or ‘shaping up’ that ‘under-eye’ or that waistline! And yet, I feel beautiful,” she concluded her post .

On the work front, the actor will next be seen in social comedy “Daasvi”, thriller “A Thursday” and investigative drama “Lost”.
