Responding to a Weibo comment, Xiaomi’s head of system software department, Zhang Guoquan, confirmed the release of the MIUI 14 upgrade for the Mi 10 series on November 28.
The launch conference of the Xiaomi 13 series was supposed to happen last week, during which the company had planned to unveil MIUI 14. However, the conference has been postponed and the new date is yet to be announced.
Despite the conference being postponed, key details about the devices continue to emerge, and now, according to a report by GizmoChina, a Xiaomi spokesperson has confirmed that some older Xiaomi models will receive the upcoming MIUI 14.
Responding to a Weibo comment, Xiaomi’s head of system software department, Zhang Guoquan, confirmed the release of the MIUI 14 upgrade for the Mi 10 series on November 28. Guoquan did not specify whether all the Mi 10 series smartphones would get the MIUI 14 update or only a select few.
Xiaomi’s Mi 10 series includes five phones – Mi 10 Lite, Mi 10 Lite Zoom, Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro and Mi 10 Ultra. Initially, only the Mi 10 Ultra shipped with MIUI 12, while the rest of the models shipped with MIUI 11 out-of-the-box. Guoqan’s comment on Weibo points to only the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro getting the update.
Leaving aside the Mi 10 Ultra, GizmoChina reports that the MIUI 14 upgrade will be the third major update for the Mi 10 series. However, the phones will not receive Android 13 as they are not covered by the most current update policy offered for newer models.
