WTC Final: Virat Kohli Gets Trolled As Pictures Of Indian Batter Having Food After Cheap Dismissal On Day 2 Go Viral

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli was in form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season with back-to-back hundreds in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia. But Kohli was once again dismissed cheaply on the second day of the WTC final at the Oval in London on Thursday, being dismissed for 14 by Mitchell Starc.

India ended the second day at 151 for 5, 119 runs short of the follow-on after Australia made 469 in their first innings. After his dismissal, Kohli was badly trolled on social media after pictures of him eating in the Indian dressing room soon after his dismissal went viral on social media.

One fan said, “Khao pyyo aish karo mitro, dil par kisi ka dukhayo na!” while another tweeted, “Ehna nu burger khilao… pizza khilao… fried rice khilao”.

During an interaction with Star Sports Network at the end of the second day’s play, former India opener Sunil Gavaskar said that Kohli could have tackled the unplayable delivery by playing off his back foot. He further added that since the 34-year-old was on his front-foot and not really expecting the short delivery, he might not have dropped his wrists in time.

“Today because only two bouncers are allowed per over, not many bowlers bowl bouncers and most of the batsmen are on the front foot. It means they are not able to get on the back foot and give themselves that extra yard where you could have probably dropped your wrist or let the ball go,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

“Yes, it was a difficult delivery because he was so committed on the front foot that he was not able to get his bat back at the last moment,” he added.

Indian batsmen Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara were both dismissed shoulder to shoulder on incoming deliveries from the Australian pacer. “Yeah, they probably couldn’t get their bats high in the air. One of the imperatives of batting in England is to play the ball as late as possible,” Gavaskar said.

“So, that means, if you want to play the ball as late as possible, your bat is close to the ball, not in the air. Because it was in the air, they let the ball go. Gavaskar said when The ball used to rise in the air, so after tossing the bat in the air, he could not bring it down.
