After India’s win over Australia in 2nd Test, Rohit Sharma’s team remains second in WTC standings

Team India retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 by defeating Australia by 6 wickets on Sunday, February 19, taking a 2-0 lead in the series. World Also Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 Standings.

Indian registered their 100th win over Australia due to Ravindra Jadeja’s flamboyant spell as he won man of the match award for the second consecutive match with his 7 wicket spell.

Talking about the WTC standings, India inched closer to another WTC final. India, Australia and Sri Lanka are now competing for a place in the finals.

While Rohit Sharma’s team remains at the second spot, their PCT has gone up to 64.06% with 123 points from 10 wins.

Australia remain on top of the WTC standings, but their PCT dropped to 66.67%, with Pat Cummins’ side having the same 136 points and 10 wins as India.

Before the start of the Border Gavaskar series 2023, India needed to win the current four-match Test series 3-1 or 4-0 to seal their place in the final of the World Test Championship to be held at The Oval in June. ,

Cummins’ team need to avoid a 4-0 whitewash to qualify for the WTC final, with Sri Lanka failing to win 2-0 over New Zealand in their upcoming Test series.

After taking a 2-0 lead in Delhi, India edged closer to their second consecutive WTC final as they successfully retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023.

Rohit’s team will try to beat Australia and remain in the first place, they will also want to win the remaining two matches, which will ensure their place in the final.

South Africa is now officially out of the race for the WTC final, leaving only India, Australia and Sri Lanka to fight it out among themselves.
