Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Saturday claimed that the history taught in the country was far from the truth as invaders were called “glory” and freedom fighters as “extremists”. He stressed that it is the responsibility of the government to teach correct history and literature.

During the previous governments, the invaders were glorified and the freedom struggle martyrs like Shaheed Bhagat Singh were given extremists in the history books. Thakur said while addressing the students of Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad (MPSP) here.

“Can we believe that Shaheed Bhagat Singh was an extremist, a terrorist,” Thakur asked during the program organized under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
