There is good news for those preparing for government jobs in the state. Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has decided to conduct the Preliminary Eligible Test i.e. Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) on August 20. On Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has approved the proposal of UPSSSC in a meeting with the chairmen of the Recruitment and Selection Commissions.

Written examination will be held in 75 districts of the state in two shifts, 1/4 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
According to the chairman of the commission, Praveer Kumar, the written examination of PET will be held in 75 districts of the state. Due to the large number of applicants, the exam will be conducted in two shifts. In this, 20 lakh 73 thousand 540 candidates will be included. Since, the written examination will be conducted in two shifts, the system of normalization will be applicable to keep the difficulty level of the question paper the same. The commission has already released the formula for normalization. The PET exam will be completed in two hours. There is negative marking applicable in the written exam of 100 Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type. 1/4 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Earlier the written examination was to be held on August 14
It is being told that the commission had talked about getting ready for the written examination on August 14 or anytime after that. The government did not find it appropriate to conduct such a huge examination in 75 districts of the state in view of the Independence Day on August 15, the second day of August 14. Apart from this, due to Raksha Bandhan being on the next Sunday i.e. 22nd August, the examination was not possible on that day. Deciding not to delay the PET exam further, the government gave its green signal to conduct the PET exam on August 20 on the office day.

Recruitment of 25 to 30 thousand vacancies in October
Sources said that after conducting the PET in August, the commission can conduct the main examination for the recruitment of 25 to 30 thousand vacant posts in October by giving the results in two months. The examination agencies have been selected by the commission.
