Tragic demise of born megastar Dilip Kumar Yusuf Khan Peshawar’s Mohalla Khudadad was greeted with shock and heartache. Speaking about the funeral prayers held at the actor’s ancestral home in Pakistan, the author talat rahim said, “Peshawarites came out to express grief and sorrow at the passing of his most famous son. The last rites were performed in his absence at his ancestral residence in Mohalla Khudadad area of the city. This area has recently been acquired by Provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa To convert it into a museum in the memory of the late and great Dilip Kumar.
He added, “Legend, with his wife” Saira Banu, had visited this region, and in a moment of immense joy and gaiety, had performed Khattak, the dance of the region”.
Pakistan’s top leadership condoled the demise of the legendary actor, including President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan, who described him as an outstanding actor, a humble man and an iconic personality. Talat said, “Dilip Kumar was a great supporter of all cancer hospital projects of Imran Khan and helped him raise funds for it.”
Talat also thanked the Indian government for giving him the state funeral and said “we are really grateful that he got his due respect”.
