WPL 2024: Delhi Capitals Vs Mumbai Indians Preview

The upcoming 12th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024) is poised to be an enticing showdown between the leading teams, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. These two formidable teams will clash for the first time in the WPL at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, vying for the top spot on the points table.

Delhi currently leads the table with three victories and one loss out of their four matches played so far. Mumbai shares the same win-loss record but holds the second position due to a lower net run rate (NRR) compared to Delhi.

With three consecutive wins after their initial loss to Mumbai, Delhi Capitals enter the match with confidence. Mumbai, on the other hand, secured two wins initially but faced a defeat against UP Warriorz before bouncing back with a convincing win against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

In their previous encounter in the season opener, Delhi posted a challenging total of 171/5 in 20 overs, propelled by impressive performances from Alice Capsey and Jemimah Rodrigues. However, Mumbai, led by Yastika Bhatia and Harmanpreet Kaur, chased down the target with four wickets to spare, courtesy of a last-ball six by Sajeevan Sajana. Fans can anticipate another thrilling contest between these star-studded teams.

Pitch Report

The curators of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) have faced difficulties in preparing the pitches due to consecutive tournaments. The cricket board requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to relocate the first couple of Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2024 home games due to these challenges. Additionally, the scheduling conflicts with the Ranji Trophy resulted in three home games of the state team being moved out of the city. The pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium is known to be challenging for batting, with the ball often moving slowly off the surface, giving spinners a significant advantage. Any score above 160 will pose a formidable challenge for the chasing team.
