Shivli Shinde is a top-order batsman who hails from Kolhapur and is considered a player to watch in the domestic circuit.

UP Warriors, who have played two games in the 2023 Women’s Premier League so far, have included Indian batsman Shivali Shinde in the squad. The spot fell vacant after all-rounder Laxmi Yadav got injured during training.

The 26-year-old Shivli, who joined the team in Mumbai on Wednesday, hails from Maharashtra and has represented the state apart from featuring for the India A team in the Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy.

The opener, who hails from Kolhapur, is considered a player to watch out for in the domestic circuit and is also known to be a quick scorer who can help set the tone for her side’s innings.

“It is a very proud moment for me to play in the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League for UP Warriors. And my family is happy that I have got this opportunity. I am looking forward to this stint and hope to learn the tricks of the trade from some of the best cricketers in the business. Experiencing the electric atmosphere in the stadiums is something I am definitely looking forward to and I hope I can contribute in a substantial way for the UP Warriors.

UP Warriors started their 2023 WPL campaign with a hard-fought win against Gujarat Giants, beating them by 3 wickets in the opening weekend, before losing against Delhi Capitals. Both games were played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

UP Warriors’ next game will pit them against the Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Brabourne Stadium on March 10.
