World Rain Forest Day 2022: Although social media and global headlines this year have been filled with issues such as the Ukraine-Russia war, economic turmoil and the impact of the coronavirus, the triple planet crises such as climate change, pollution and loss of biodiversity are still far from over. This still needs to be acknowledged and for this World Rainforest Day is celebrated every year on 22nd June. It is a joint effort to promote knowledge and inspire action to conserve our rainforests.

Rainforests are considered one of Earth’s most valuable resources, as the Amazon rainforest alone supplies 20 percent of the oxygen we breathe. So, on World Rainforest Day, read about some of the steps we can take to conserve. Our Rainforests:

  1. aid organizations working for
You can start by taking baby steps. And the first step would be to help and support the organizations that are working in this direction. There are many wonderful charities that work towards protecting the world’s rainforests. You can help them either by donating money or by spreading awareness about it.
  2. reduce your carbon footprint
The next step would be to try to eliminate or reduce your carbon footprint. You can do this by using less electronic items, traveling in public vehicles or riding a bicycle, not using plastic and planting more and more plants around us.
  3. eating non-vegetarian food
Cattle farming largely results in deforestation, and many rainforests are destroyed in an attempt to make room for the farm.
  4. Choose products that give back
While it is best to buy less, there are companies that are donating to various environmental causes with every purchase we make. It is better to associate with such brands.
  5. Buy Responsibly Sourced Products
Many companies sell products made from responsibly sourced or recycled materials. Products like these can go a long way in preventing tropical deforestation.
