World Radio Day: Ayushmann Khurrana reminisces about his career as an RJ; says, ‘Working in radio shaped who I am today’ – Times of India

Ayushmann Khurrana, who is currently shooting for ‘An Action Hero’ in London, has shared a special post on the occasion of World Radio Day, Before entering showbiz, the actor was a radio jockey. In his post, he took a walk down memory lane and thanked everyone for showering him with love.

Ayushmann shared a picture of himself while seated in the studio. His post read, “At the age of 22, I was probably one of the youngest in the country to host a breakfast show which is generally hosted by very seasoned radio jockeys. So, here I was at my first job and they had given me the breakfast show and they had hugely promoted that show. I was on the hoardings in Delhi. So, that was really new for that time!”

Ayushmann, who made his Bollywood debut with ‘Vicky Donor‘, further wrote, “I feel it is very important for everyone to cherish the starting point of one’s career because those are the formative years. There is outstanding talent in the radio industry and I was fortunate to meet and interact with them. Working in radio shaped who I’m today. Ekta Kapoor was quick to drop a comment on his post. She wrote, ‘wow’, while his brother Aparshakti Khurana put a heart emoji. Manish Malhotra commented, “You look the same as you did at 22 .”

In a statement, the actor revealed that he was always inclined to pursue a job in entertainment. He shared, “I was always inclined to pursue a profession in entertainment and performance arts and my stint as a radio jockey really helped me get confident about myself. The success I saw with radio taught me that I could back myself and explore to become an entertainer. It is such a coincidence that I hosted some really off-centre shows. Looking back I feel I was always drawn to out-of-the-ordinary concepts and that’s pretty much become my signature today as I tend to pick subjects that are fresh and unique. I owe a lot to my stint with the radio. I remember doing some really different concepts on my shows. I thank everyone for listening in and loving those ideas because it shaped who I am today. It propelled me to push myself and constantly explore to deliver something fresh to people.”
