World leaders condole demise of PM Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraben

New Delhi: Several world leaders on Friday condoled the death of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother Heeraben, who passed away in Gujarat at the age of 99.
Heeraben died in an Ahmedabad hospital in the early hours of Friday. His mortal remains were consigned to the flames at a crematorium in Gandhinagar by PM Modi and his brothers. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida wrote on Twitter: “PM Modi @narendramodi, I would like to express my deepest condolences on the passing of your dear mother. May her soul rest in peace.” Israel’s newly elected Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also tweeted his condolence message to his friend, Prime Minister Modi.

“My dear friend @narendramodi, Prime Minister of India, please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved mother. May she rest in peace and may you find comfort in her memory and the rich legacy she left to you and many others ,” Netanyahu wrote.

Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” said he was deeply saddened to learn about the passing away of Modi’s dear mother. He tweeted, “In this hour of grief, I express my heartfelt condolences to PM Modi ji and family members and pray for the departed soul.”

Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe also expressed his condolences to Prime Minister Modi. “Deeply saddened by the passing away of beloved mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. My deepest sympathies to Prime Minister Modi and family in this hour of grief,” he said in a statement.

Prime Minister of Bhutan Dr Lotay Tshering tweeted, “My prayers and condolences to Prime Minister @narendramodi on the passing away of his beloved mother early today. The loss of your parents is unbearable. I pray for your strength.”
“The rare glimpses we often see of Your Majesty and Mother, displaying the purest love, and her strength and value in you, was an inspiration to us all.
Bhutan’s prime minister wrote in a message, “But like all mothers with love and blessings, I am sure her prayers will always be with Your Majesty. May her soul rest in eternal peace.”

Expressing his condolences to his Indian counterpart, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in a tweet, “There is no greater loss than losing one’s mother. My condolences to Prime Minister @narendramodi on the passing away of his mother.”

Former Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa also expressed his “heartfelt condolences” to Modi on the loss of his beloved mother.

In a tweet, former Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba also expressed his “heartfelt condolences on the passing away of respected mother. May her eternal soul rest in peace” to Modi and his family.
