World Cup winner with England, Fran Wilson retires from international cricket

Batsman Fran Wilson, who was part of England’s World Cup winning team, announced her retirement from international cricket on Thursday but will continue to work in the domestic set-up.

The 29-year-old played 33 ODIs, 30 T20Is and one Test for England in a career spanning almost 11 years.

Wilson has been part of three World Cup campaigns, in which Heather Knight’s team defeated India in a thrilling final at Lord’s in 2017 to lift the trophy.

A middle-order batsman, Frank has a few fifties to his name and is a gun fielder.

After making her debut for England in 2010, she was out of the set-up until 2016, when she returned to the team ahead of the World Cup. He last played a match for England in March this year. And when she was part of the team over the summer, she didn’t get a game.

“I am incredibly proud to have played for my country for the past 10 years and now is the right time to step away,” Wilson said in a statement issued by the England and Wales Cricket Board.

“Playing for England takes you to the limit and I am grateful for the experiences that have made me better on and off the pitch. The memories I have made with some of the wonderful teams are ones I will always cherish and I would like to thank everyone who has been a part of my journey to England.”

“In my time on the job I’ve really enjoyed working with Fran. He’s such a positive influence on the group, he’s a real team player, he’s very popular, and we really love him as part of our team.” I will remember.”
