More people are dying every day from the Omicron variant of the corona virus in the US than the delta variant, while the death toll is expected to increase in the next few days or weeks.
The seven-day average death toll in the US has been increasing since mid-November. It reached 2,267 on Thursday and crossed the 2,100 mark in September, when the delta variant was at its peak.
Andrew Noymer, professor of public health at the University of California, Irvine, said Omicron could cost us millions of lives. It should be discussed what we can do differently and how many lives we can save.
In the US, 8,78,000 people have died due to Kovid-19 and it is at the top in terms of the number of dead.
