Boney Kapoor said that his late wife Sridevi was a very private person and her life should remain private.
Late Bollywood actress Sridevi’s untimely demise can still be heard echoing in the Hindi cinema. Leaving a forever void in the hearts of millions, the actress died on February 24, 2018, at the age of 54. Many of the English Vinglish actress fans want to see a biopic made on her life and this led to speculations about such a film being produced on her.
Producer and her husband Boney Kapoor, however, have quashed the rumours concerning the production of a biopic on the life of the legendary actress. In an interview with the news outlet DNA, he said,” “She was a very private person, and her life should remain private. I don’t think there ever will be. Till the time I live, I will not allow this to happen.”
Boney Kapoor has been candid about his personal life and in an interview revealed that his first wife Mona Shourie Kapoor was aware of his feelings for Sridevi when they were still married. The Thunivu producer said that even though he felt guilty about falling in love with Sridevi while still being married to Mona, he was very honest to his first wife about his feelings for the late legendary actress. While Boney has a son Arjun Kapoor and a daughter Anshula Kapoor from his first marriage with Mona Shourie Kapoor, he and Sridevi have two daughters- Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. Arjun was reportedly “deeply hurt” by his father’s decision to marry Sridevi after parting ways with his mother in 1996. Boney and Mona were never officially divorced.
Sridevi died of accidental drowning in a bathtub in a hotel in Dubai in February 2018. In an interview with The New India, Boney Kapoor revealed that she used to experience blackouts because of crash diets. Sridevi had last acted in the film Mom for which she received accolades for her acting prowess.
As of now, Boney is gearing up for her upcoming film Maidaan headlined by Ajay Devgn and directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma. The film will be released on the big screens on April 10. Gajraj Rao, Priyamani and others have also acted in this film.
