Marijan Kapp was in tears ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup final as South Africa’s national anthem was being played.

Women’s T20 World The cup final was played between Australia and South Africa on Sunday, February 26, and before the summit clash, there was a moment that would melt any cricket fan’s heart.

South African fast bowler Marijan Kapp was seen shedding a few tears during the playing of the national anthem before the final.

This is the first time the South African women’s team has reached the final of the Women’s T20 World Cup, and thus, the outpouring of emotion has hardly come as a surprise.

The official Instagram handle of the ICC on Sunday shared a clip of Cap breaking down in tears during the playing of South Africa’s national anthem.

She also accompanied the clip with a hilarious caption, which went viral in no time!

The host nation beat Heather Knight’s England by six wickets to qualify for the summit clash. South Africa and Australia were both in Group A, with Meg Lanning’s team topping the list after going unbeaten in 4 matches.

Sune Luce’s team finished second in their group behind Australia with 4 points. Interestingly, New Zealand and Sri Lanka also collected 4 points each, but South Africa had the best net run rate, allowing them to clash with Group B leaders England.

Talking about the final, Kapp led his side’s bowling attack as the hosts were asked to bowl first after Lanning won the toss and elected to bat.

Marijan conceded 35 runs in her four-over spell but picked up two crucial wickets as she dismissed Alyssa Healy as well as Australian captain Lanning.

Meanwhile Australia scored 156/6 in their 20 overs, with Beth Mooney’s unbeaten 74 helping the defending champs post a fighting-worth total.
