New Delhi: Legendary singer Aasha Bhosle on Wednesday tried to make women realize their true strength by citing her example when she stood for straight three hours and sang at the age of 90 in a live concert in Dubai. Speaking on the Women Reservation Bill that is passed in the Lok Sabha, the veteran singer said “Women have no idea about their power.”
Highlighting women’s remarkable resilience, she said, “For instance, I had a show today and sang for three hours at the age of 90. This is what women power is,” reported the news agency PTI.
Bhosle turned 90 on September 8 this year and her life journey has been an inspiration for all the women who are willing to build a life of their own, who also want to choose their life partner and have a respectful life.
Asha Bhosle made the statement during an event held on the ocassion of Ganesh Chaturthi at Mumbai Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Ashish Shelar’s residence. Bhosle drapped a silk saree to attend the event along with her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle. Actor Vicky Kaushal was also there.
Sang Three Hours
The event cited by the legendary was held in Dubai, which was a live concert where her granddaughter Zanai performed. Talking about her work front, Bhosle’s carreer started nearly eight decades ago. “At the age of 90, I have to stand for three hours on stage and sing songs, I’m happy I can do this at this age,” Bhosle had said in an interview earlier.
More than 12,000 songs have been recorded in Bhosle’s voice and each of them is popular and a great hit. When she spoke about her career, she said music is like breathing for her.
She sang peppy numbers like “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja” to soulful and evergreen ghazals like “Dil Cheez Kya Hai” and the classical “Tora Man Darpan Kehlaye”.
“Last Mughal”
It is very unlikely to talk about Asha and not mention legendary Lata Mangeshkar, her sister. Besides sharing a sibling bond, the two great singers had planned to organise an event and call it ‘Last Mughal’; it was more ‘Lata Di’s’ idea.
