Women host on Tolo TV breakfast show weeks after Taliban takeover

A female TV presenter was back on Tolo TV’s morning show weeks after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.

On Thursday, some people on Twitter shared screengrabs of another female presenter hosting the breakfast show ‘Bamdad-e-Khosh’ on Tolo TV channel.

Visuals of a woman hosting a television show in Afghanistan were welcomed by many on Twitter, while others cast doubt on the Taliban’s intentions.

Ever since Kabul was handed over to the Taliban, women journalists have expressed concern for their safety and many have managed to flee Afghanistan to escape the insurgents.

Despite assurances from the Taliban that media freedom was improving every day and that women would have access to education and work, many of its allies had left the country by then.

She was soon to follow along with her mother, sisters and brothers. They joined thousands of foreigners and Afghan citizens who participated in the chaotic US-led evacuation.

“Almost all of our well-known journalists and journalists are gone. We are working like crazy to replace them with new ones. We have the dual challenge of getting people out. [because they feel unsafe] And continuing to operate,” Tolo News owner Saad Mohseni previously told CNN.

The Taliban reportedly asked Tolo News to ensure that all women wear the hijab. Later, he suspended female anchors in other stations.
