For the first time, women dog handlers have been included in the squad of Indo Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP). These women will train dogs for the mission of ITBP. Earlier all dog trainers used to be men. A total of 8 women handlers have been included in the team in the first phase.

These handlers will prepare the K-9 squad at the ‘National Training Center for Dogs’ of ITBP in Panchkula, Haryana.

Women are better trainers, dogs get mother’s love

According to the Indian Express report, ITBP Inspector General Ishwar Singh Duhan believes that ‘Puppy is more influenced by the voice of women. She will get motherly love from female handlers. Due to which they will have an emotional connection with their handlers and they will be able to do better work. He also told that after this step of ITBP people’s thinking about women will change and old traditions will also be broken.

Dogs will be sent on dangerous missions after training

After taking training from these women handlers of ITBP, the dogs will be sent on dangerous missions. Where they will monitor the infiltration of the Chinese army on the Tibet border from locating the landmines of the Naxalites. The female handlers of ITBP are initially training puppies of Malinois breed.

There was also a chance to become a cook, gardener, tailor and cobbler.

In various paramilitary forces including ITBP, many jobs have been considered to be of men. But slowly it is changing. A year before the creation of dog handlers, ITBP had also paved the way for women to become cooks, gardeners, tailors, sweepers and cobblers.
