Ludhiana: Police on Friday arrested a woman and her lover for the murder of her husband.
Vinod Prasad, 45, a resident of Jaspal Bangar, was murdered in Gill village on Wednesday. Along with the arrest of Pancha Devi (40) and her lover Bengali Raut (45), a resident of Jaspal Bangar, the police have also recovered the wood used to kill Vinod.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police-II Jaskiranjit Singh Teja said, “After the body was found in the fields in Gil village, announcement was made in the surrounding areas and its photographs were circulated for identification. On Thursday, the victim’s cousin Babu Ram approached the police after seeing the pictures. He told the police that his cousin Vinod Prasad, a factory worker, was missing since Tuesday night.
During investigation, it was found that Vinod was last seen with Bengali. During interrogation, the Bengali blew the beans and Pancha was arrested.
“Pancha said that she had an affair with her brother-in-law (sister’s husband) Bengali for three years. Earlier Bengalis used to come to Ludhiana from Delhi to meet him. Recently he had shifted to Ludhiana near his house. A few days ago, Vinod had caught both of them together and thrashed Punch. Then, Panch and Bengali conspired to kill him. On July 27, Bengali took Vinod along on the pretext of settling the dispute over liquor. He took her to a secluded area near Gill village and attacked her with a wooden stick and fled.
A case of murder has been registered against both of them at Dehlon police station.
