Social media influencer Sapna Gill has been arrested for assaulting Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw (Twitter Image).

Social media influencer Sapna Gill, who was arrested in connection with the alleged attack on Prithvi Shaw, has now claimed that she was not aware of it. According to the complaint lodged with the police, Prithvi Shaw was assaulted outside a five-star hotel in Mumbai in the early hours of Wednesday. A group of people followed Shaw and his friend after they refused a request for a selfie while having dinner at a restaurant. The complaint states that the accused also damaged the car of Shaw’s friend Surendra Yadav with a baseball bat.

A complaint was lodged against Sapna Gill, her friend Shobhit Thakur and six others at Mumbai’s Oshiwara police station. Gill and Thakur were arrested by the police on Thursday.
In January, Prithvi Shaw returned to the Team India squad after a gap of one and a half years. Shaw earned an India call-up for the three-match T20I series against New Zealand. However, Shaw, who made his international debut at the age of 18, did not get a chance to play in the series against the Kiwis.
Shaw made a comeback to Team India in January after a stellar batting display against Assam in a Ranji Trophy match. He played a brilliant inning of 379 runs in the first innings of the fixture. In competitive cricket, the Mumbai-born batsman was last seen during a Ranji Trophy match against Delhi last month. His last international match was against Sri Lanka in July 2021. Shaw has played five Tests, six ODIs and one T20 match so far. He plays for Delhi Capitals in IPL.
