Greater Noida: A 28-year-old woman, a mother of two, was found hanging at her house under mysterious circumstances in Dadri.
The family members of the woman alleged that the incident was a murder while her in-laws claimed that it was a suicide.
Her family claimed that Zahida was strangled to death in her room at their house in Nai Abadi area on Monday and hanged from the grill of the window.
Zahida’s father Babu Khan said that she was informed about the incident by her brother-in-law.
“When we reached her house, my daughter’s body was already hauled off and she was lying on a cot,” he said.
Khan alleged that Zahida was upset due to her husband Amiruddin’s extramarital affairs.
“Amiruddin used to talk to a woman from Luharli village for hours, which angered Zahida. We tried to convince him many times but he did not change his ways. About a year ago, a Panchayat was also held in this matter, after which Zahida started living at our house.
Later, Zahida returned home after the panchayat asked both the families to “solve” the matter.
The accused persons fled from the spot soon after the arrival of the police.
“When the police arrived, the body was found lying on the cot. Her husband and other in-laws fled from the spot. Her father-in-law and mother-in-law have been detained,” said a police officer.
Dadri SHO Pradeep Tripathi told TOI that the postmortem report confirmed the cause of death as “hanging”.
“This shows that the death was a suicide. The accused will be booked under IPC section 306 (abetment to suicide).”
