Jalpaiguri (West Bengal):
A woman was killed and three others were injured when a private car rammed into a rural hospital premises in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district on Thursday.
The accident took place around 1 pm when the driver of the four-wheeler lost his control and rammed into a group of people in the Maynaguri Rural Hospital premises, a senior official said.
The dead have not been identified but the injured persons belong to a family, he said, adding that they had come to the health facility to see their patients.
People vandalized the vehicle and demonstrated against the hospital authorities, alleging that the accident was caused by a safety lapse.
“We are probing how the vehicle came to the area where patients usually reside. It was not parked at the designated place on the hospital premises. The driver was apprehended and his car confiscated,” the official said. Gone.”
He said that the body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem and the injured are undergoing treatment.
