PUNE: The Kondhwa police on Sunday registered a case against a 35-year-old woman for ramming a female stray dog ​​with her car near the main gate of Sunshree Housing Society on NIBM Road at around 10.30 am on July 29.

“The woman living in the society was driving her car at high speed. She suddenly turned left inside the society gate and ran over the dog, injuring the animal seriously,” said assistant inspector Swaraj Patil on Monday.
Patil said, “A CCTV camera captured pictures which showed the dog was moaning in severe pain and lay unattended for about 30 minutes. The woman did not take the animal to the veterinary hospital for treatment. The dog later I died.”
“The residents of the society later in a meeting discussed the death of the dog and analyzed the footage. 53-year-old teacher Nawaz Hakamaheshi, who was present in the meeting, saw the footage and filed an FIR against the car driver under Section 429 (Prevention of Killing of Animals) of the Indian Penal Code, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Maharashtra Police Act and Motor Vehicles Act,” he said.
“The residents buried the dog soon after the incident. We will extract the animal remains to conduct the post-mortem,” Patil said.
