‘Without problems, you can’t enjoy good times’: Shivraj minister gets philosophical on fuel price hike

As the fuel prices are increasing with each passing day, the cabinet ministers of Shivraj Chouhan are offering unusual pleas for the same.

On Saturday, Science and Technology Minister Om Prakash Saklecha, who was in Chhatarpur for a day’s visit, was questioned by journalists on the sharp spike in fuel prices of late.

The minister offered philosophical feedback. “Troubles make you feel the joy of good times. If there is no trouble, you will not be able to enjoy happiness,” said the senior minister in the Shivraj cabinet.

Congress spokesperson Ajay Singh Yadav said that this is the real character of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said that when the economy has collapsed and business has come to a standstill during the Corona period, the BJP government has put a heavy burden on the common people through taxes.

He recalled that when there was a marginal increase in fuel prices under the UPA government, BJP leaders used to protest on the streets with LPG cylinders and two-wheelers.

BJP spokesperson Rakesh Sharma hit back saying that the Congress party only believes in appearances. He asked the opposition to explain why the Congress party-ruled Rajasthan imposes maximum tax and cess on fuel. We have not imposed any new duty on fuel and all these taxes are inherited by our government, the leader said.

This is not the first time a BJP minister has made an unusual statement on the hike in fuel prices. Recently, Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar had claimed that fuel prices are rising as we no longer use cycles which is also beneficial for health.

Meanwhile, the Congress party continued to protest the unusually high fuel prices as party leaders were arrested by the police as they tried to stage a protest against the hike in prices in Jabalpur.

MP Congress tweeted, “Petrol prices touch Rs 111 per liter in Madhya Pradesh, thank you Modi ji.” Petrol in Bhopal was being sold at Rs 108.92 per liter while diesel at Rs 98.38 per liter on Saturday.
