With Bengal panchayat elections next year, why did Mamata run across districts?

Panchayat elections in West Bengal will be held next year, but taking a look at Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee’s busy schedule, one may wonder if they are next month. The CM has been visiting various districts of the state since May, holding meetings and assessing the ground situation ahead of the elections.

She went to Medinipur and held administrative and political meetings there. He visited Bankura and Purulia districts this week. On Friday, she will inaugurate Maa Santoshi Temple in Singur. The TMC chief is scheduled to visit Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar in north Bengal in the first week of June.

Party insiders say that Mamta is trying to understand the development situation in every district and the condition of the TMC organization.

She says that by July, she would have visited all 23 districts of West Bengal.

After a scare from the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress has won assembly elections, municipal elections and bypolls in the state.

Then why is the TMC chief putting so much emphasis on her party’s preparations for the panchayat elections?

Experts say there are two reasons for this. One is that it wants to get an idea of the ground situation in advance.

Second, the 2018 Bengal panchayat elections saw a wave of violence and the Trinamool won a large number of seats unopposed.

There were allegations that TMC did not allow the opposition to contest the elections.

Observers say it had a major impact on the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, when the BJP won an unprecedented 18 out of a total of 42 seats in the state.

TMC sources say that this time the party has already instructed the leaders and workers of different districts that the only agenda of the election should be development, not violence.

He says that the presence of Mamta will rejuvenate the district organizations and the workers will also get inspiration.

However, BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar told News18, “Let’s Mamata Banerjee To walk around It won’t get votes. In the booths the TMC ‘gundabahini’ (gang of goons) will get them votes, and they will try to use the administration as usual. We will face them.”
