With 1 fresh case, Kerala’s Omicron tally reached 38. Night curfew announced in Assam

New Delhi: Health Minister Veena George said Kerala reported one more case of the Covid-19 omicron variant on Saturday, taking the total number of such cases to 38.

2,404 new cases have been reported in Kerala, 11 deaths have been reported and 3,377 have been cured. There are 24,501 active COVID cases in the state, while the death toll stands at 46,318.

The Kerala government said in an official statement that the death toll as per the new guidelines of the central government includes 104 deaths.

Meanwhile, the Assam government has announced a night curfew starting Sunday across the state in view of the rise in COVID-19 cases.

The night curfew, which was in force from 11.30 pm to 6 am, however, will not come into force on December 31, reported ANI.

All work places, business/commercial establishments, food in restaurants/hotels/dhabas and other eateries, moving food items from restaurants/dhabas and other eateries, cold storage and godown sales counters, opening of showrooms etc., shops dealing with groceries, Fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk booths will open till 10:30 pm

The DDMAs having jurisdiction will decide the limits of gatherings in respect of open space for meetings/assembly based on the situation of COVID in their respective districts.

Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has issued this instruction omicron As per the specific regulation, all district magistrates, superintendents of police and other concerned authorities shall be responsible for ensuring proper handling of COVID at all public places for prevention of virus.

The directive also states that any person who does not wear a mask or spit in public places will be fined Rs 1,000.
