World number two Jabur made a scintillating tennis performance as she returned from a set to defeat Czech Marie Bouzkova in the women’s singles quarterfinals at Wimbledon 2022 on Tuesday, July 5.

Ons Jabur became the first Arab woman to reach a Grand Slam semi-final as she remains the highest seeded (third) player in the women’s singles draw. Jabeur will next face his ‘barbeque partner’ Tatjana Maria, who had earlier defeated fellow German Jule Niemeyer in another quarter-final.

Ons Jabeur has advanced to the last four rounds of his first Grand Slam, leaving behind a shock defeat in the first round of the French Open. The 27-year-old Tunisia star has scored a winning 10 match haul on the grass as he heads to Wimbledon after his title win in Berlin.

Notably, Jabeur teamed up with Serena Williams for the doubles at the Eastbourne International, but she withdrew after the first two rounds due to fear of injury.

On Tuesday, playing in her second straight Wimbledon quarter-final, Jabeur in the first set failed to find a convincing defense of 66th-ranked Buzkova, who had never made it to the second round of a Grand Slam before this year’s championship . ,

Bouzkova, 23, broke twice to take the opening set, but Jabeur, bidding to become the first African woman to win a major, came back to level the match with three breaks in the second.

Jabeur took a 4-0 lead in the third set, but was overtaken by Buzkova. However, the world No 2 kept her composure and worked her way up to the semi-finals.
