Wimbledon 2022: Rafael Nadal on chronic leg injury – Overall sentiments are positive

Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal says it is not too late for him to suffer a chronic leg injury and is ready to perform at the upcoming Wimbledon edition. After winning the French Open earlier this month, he said the injury has taken a toll on him.

Earlier, the great John McEnroe also said that he was surprised to see the 36-year-old Nadal win the match with his injury. Ahead of the grass-court tournament starting Monday, June 27, Manecore-born Nadal said he is physically much better than he was before.

,[I am] quite happy about how [it has] advanced. At first, I can walk normally most days, almost every single day. This is the main issue for me. When I wake up, I don’t feel the pain that I’ve been going through for the past year and a half, so I’m very happy,” Nadal told reporters.

“And secondly, exercising. I’ve been better overall, honestly. For the past two weeks, I haven’t had a single day of these horrible days that I can’t walk at all… the feeling and overall feelings are positive ‘Cause I’m in a positive way in terms of pain, and that’s the main thing,” he said.

“Of course, the treatment I used didn’t heal my injury, didn’t improve my injury at all, but can take away a little bit of pain. That’s the main goal. Honestly, I feel happy because the hardest part is it That hurts when you have too much – not playing tennis,” Nadal said.

Nadal is set to participate in Wimbledon as the No. 2 seed and will face the 23-year-old Argentine Francisco Cerundolo in a round of 32 match on Court 1. Of his 22 titles to date, Nadal has won two of them. Wimbledon.
