Days after clearing the floor test in Maharashtra, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said time will tell whether his camp will approach the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the Sena’s symbol. Eknath Shinde said that he was trying to convince former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, but his argument fell on deaf ears.

Eknath Shinde and his Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called on President Ram Nath Kovind, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP President JP Nadda in New Delhi today.

His visit to the national capital comes ahead of a crucial hearing in the Supreme Court on July 11 on a petition filed by the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena seeking disqualification of Shinde and 15 MLAs of his faction.

Addressing his first press conference after becoming the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shinde backed the BJP and said, “People used to say that BJP broke governments because it is power hungry. Now nobody is like this about BJP. Can say. We tried to talk. Told Uddhav Thackeray that Shiv Sena MLAs are losing their value.”

Eknath Shinde said, “Balasaheb Thackeray used to say that he would never be in alliance with NCP and Congress. He used to say that if he had to join hands with Congress, NCP, he would leave Shiv Sena.”

PM Modi has vision for Maharashtra

Eknath Shinde also said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision for Maharashtra and will seek his blessings. He said that people want an alliance of Shiv Sena and BJP.

He said, “I have established this government because it is the will of the people. This government will get help from the central government.”

The Chief Minister also met Tushar Mehta, Solicitor General of India regarding the status of OBCs in Maharashtra.
