The Bharatiya Janata Party has now made it clear that the Parliament will not be allowed to function until Rahul Gandhi apologises. However, soon after Rijiju’s address, Congress’s Kharge rejected this demand.

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has sharpened his stance against senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of committing a crime against the country. The Minister said that Rahul Gandhi’s statements in London and Cambridge are outright lies to defame India, Indian Parliament, Judiciary and the Prime Minister.

“Rahul lied in London. His statements there are beyond breach of parliamentary privileges. They have insulted the country and given more fodder to anti-India forces,” the law minister said.

When asked by the media whether a criminal case of sedition would be filed against Rahul Gandhi, the Law Minister said that all options should be talked about and discussed. ,

Earlier, Union Minister Giriraj Singh had demanded registration of a criminal case against the Congress MP on charges of sedition.

Rijiju said that as a result of ‘misinformation’ spread by Rahul Gandhi, an impression has been created that voices are being stifled.

“I got calls and messages from foreign parliamentarians and civil society members asking why don’t you allow Rahul Gandhi to talk? Why are the voices of the opposition being stopped?” Rijiju told News18.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has now made it clear that the Parliament will not be allowed to function until Rahul Gandhi apologises. However, soon after Rijiju spoke, Congress’s Kharge rejected the demand.

Soon after Rijiju spoke, Mallikarjun Kharge rejected the demand. There is no question of apologizing

The Congress has sought to deflect pressure from the government saying that it is the Prime Minister who defamed India during his visits to Japan, South Korea etc. Rijiju rejected the allegation.

“What the PM said was about the apathy of the then government towards the people. Let us not confuse the two issues. In this case, it is an attack on our democracy,” the law minister said.

Rahul Gandhi, after being away for the first 3 days of the ongoing session, is expected to be present in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

Manickam Tagore, a Congress MP and a close aide of Rahul Gandhi, tweeted his picture saying, “Today at Parliament at 11am. See you there, Anurag and Smriti.”
