New Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pandey addresses the citizens of Mumbai Facebook Had a live session on Sunday afternoon and talked about several public issues and the police action being taken to solve them.
Pandey promised that he would hold similar sessions every Sunday at 3 pm, during which he would also update his mobile number about the action taken on complaints received last week, which he had made public a few days ago. Mumbai’s new top police officer said, “Anyone who has a policing problem can send me a message on WhatsApp and I promise, I will reply at the earliest and action will be taken.”
The practice of motorists driving in the wrong direction was one of the issues raised by Pandey. “I have asked the traffic police to register an FIR against those who drive in the wrong direction instead of fining them,” he said.
The safety and security of senior citizens living alone was another topic they discussed. “The local police will have to keep a list of all such senior citizens and sort out the issues and investigate them,” Pandey said.
In view of the increasing cases of cyber crime, Pandey asked the police constables to increase their knowledge on this subject so that it can be investigated. Addressing complaints of noise pollution in the city due to construction work, Pandey said action would be taken if the work is done beyond the stipulated time.
On evacuating the vehicles, Pandey said, “I am in talks with the municipality and will work out a solution… It is important to see whether the vehicle was parked for a few minutes or for a long time.”
