New Delhi: The BJP-led government is committed to vaccinate every citizen in India by the end of this year as part of the world’s largest COVID-19 vaccination programme.
Union Culture and Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy said that the tourism sector has been badly affected in the last two years, which includes travel agents, tour operators and employees of the tourism sector.

According to the Union Culture and Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy, about 69 crore people have been immunized free of cost so far. The Union Minister informed that about 1.33 crore people were vaccinated in a day and the government is actively trying to vaccinate all by December (2021). This will help in opening up the tourism sector of the country by January 2022.

“We want to reach the last person to be vaccinated in the farthest part of the country by December this year. It is also a matter of great pride that India was one of the two countries that invented a vaccine for COVID, Apart from the United States, it raised the stature of Indian scientists and the country in the world,” the release quoted Kishan Reddy as saying.
According to the health ministry, the total vaccine dose administered till Monday is 68,75,41,762.
How does India’s vaccination program fare compared to other countries?
According to the government, India has administered more COVID-19 vaccine doses in August than all G7 countries combined.
In a tweet, the Centre’s official handle MyGovIndia said that the country administered over 180 million vaccine doses in August – more than all the group of 7 countries combined which includes Canada, UK, US, Italy, Germany, France and Japan.
According to data tweeted by MyGovIndia, Canada delivered 3 million doses in the G7 countries and Japan 40 million in the two lowest and highest ranges respectively.
The government tweeted, “Another achievement! With over 180 million vaccine doses delivered in the month of August, India leaves its mark on the global map of immunizing its population on a priority basis.”
“153 countries have asked for our vaccines and some have even paid advance amounts to the companies concerned, but the government has banned exports until people in our country are vaccinated,” he said.
