Pandya is understood to have made it clear that he should not be considered for national selection for the home series against West Indies and Sri Lanka as he is still working on his bowling workload.

He was asked where he has been placed in terms of bowling.

“It will be a surprise to everyone,” he said, holding his cards to his chest.

But he admitted that not being able to perform as an all-rounder has been challenging although his criticism during the T20 World Cup didn’t bother him much.

“It has been challenging (not being able to bowl) and I have always contributed (contributed) in three areas of the game.

“But when I decided I just wanted to bat, I just wanted to spend some time on the field and it has been challenging, yes,” he admitted.
