According to reports, 50-year-old Bansari Lal Arende, an Indian national of Afghanistan origin, was abducted at gunpoint in Kabul on Tuesday.

Asked whether Arendeh is an Indian national or not, an official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs said it was being probed.

“I have been explained that he is an Indian citizen, but we are investigating that part as well,” Bagchi said.

Arendh’s family reportedly lives in Haryana’s Faridabad city and has been doing business in Kabul for the past two decades.

The official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs further said that it is difficult to say about bringing back the remaining Indians till the flight services resume at Kabul airport.

“Until Kabul airport resumes operations, it is difficult to say how to bring them back. Our focus is on resuming operations at Kabul airport,” Bagchi said, reported PTI.
