‘…will continue to bulldoze criminals’ property’: Yogi Adityanath’s befitting reply to Rahul Gandhi’s tweet

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were involved in an intense verbal duel on Tuesday. It started with Rahul Gandhi’s tweet in which he made fun of the BJP leader.

“Jo nafrat kare…wah Yogi kaisa! (How is Yogi hater!),” tweeted the former Congress president without elaborating.

Responding to the tweet in the same manner, Adityanath quoted a line from Ramcharitmanas to say that if destroying the property of criminals and miscreants is hate, then this ‘hatred’ will continue unabated.

Rahul Gandhi’s sarcasm on Yogi Adityanath was an apparent attack on the UP CM’s ‘Abba Jaan’ remark, which had charged state politics ahead of next year’s assembly elections.

Addressing a public meeting on Sunday, Adityanath said, “… Before 2017, those who used to say ‘Abba Jaan’ used to eat free ration sent to the poor and get involved in corruption in government jobs for the poor. were involved.”

Though the Chief Minister did not name any particular party, it was clear that he was referring to the Samajwadi Party as he had earlier called Samajwadi Vice Chancellor Mulayam Singh Yadav ‘Abba Jaan’ in a TV programme.

The Chief Minister also said that leaders like Akhilesh Yadav did not earlier go to temples for fear of hurting their Muslim vote-bank.

Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party has pulled up Yogi and the BJP for trying to divert people’s attention ahead of the elections.

Samajwadi Party spokesperson Juhi Singh said that BJP has always diverted people’s attention from the basic issues of the state. He said the situation during COVID-19, inflation, unemployment and social injustice has never been the priority of the party.
